It was early May. Matt and I pulled into the driveway of a three bedroom condo we had rented in Moab, Utah just as my parents and brother began to unload their car. It was warm outside, hot even, a nice welcome after the cool temperatures in Great Basin National Park.

Every day that week began with coffee on the upstairs deck, followed by hiking, then lunch, more hiking, cocktails on the patio out back until it was dark and chilly, then dinner inside followed by card games by the fire. It was perfect.

It’s been three years since our road trip to Moab. Three years since I came home brimming with creative ideas and inspiration. I’m sure it had something to do with the gorgeous landscapes and open spaces (coupled with a few wine-induced late night chats, maybe?). If you haven’t been to one of the many national or state parks in Utah, all I can say is GO.
