Hey friends, I know a lot of people who love winter… until the holidays are over. But winter happens whether we like it or not, so let’s enjoy it! Here are a few ideas:
Starting with the obvious, how about playing outside?
If winter sports aren’t your thing, what about going for a drive in search of adventure.
Several years ago, Matt and I and a couple of friends decided to drive out to Mono Lake, California for the night with the idea of camping nearby. Not realizing just how much snow would be on the ground, we ended up sleeping in our cars. We woke up early the next morning, bundled up, and spent the entire day exploring Mono Lake, Panum Crater, and checking out the hot springs at Hot Creek (near Mammoth Lakes). It was so much fun.

Don’t want to be outside? What about working on a photo album or updating your photo display (or any other project you’ve been putting off). Look around online for ideas or stop by your local custom photo lab (there aren’t as many as there used to be, but they still exist!).
Not feeling crafty? How about cooking? It’s so convenient to make big batches of soups or stews to reheat during a busy week and/or freeze for later. Once a year we have an assembly line of friends making pasties. We make so many that even after we divide them up they last almost an entire year. (Here’s the recipe.)
How about you? What do you like to do for fun in the winter?
Great ideas Katie.
I love pasties. Have you ever made a mexican type one?

Nope. We haven’t deviated too much from the recipe, but that does sound good. We keep talking about making empanadas, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
