Have you ever missed a really great photo opportunity? One that sticks with you and over time it builds up in your mind as the best shot ever?
I have one of those moments engrained in my memory from my first visit to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan. It was over 10 years ago, Matt and I were kayaking over to our campsite for the weekend. He paddled away to get closer to the rocks and when I looked over, he was positioned perfectly in front of a waterfall in his red kayak. It was the perfect mix of color and composition… but I was too nervous to pull the camera out of the dry bag, and the moment passed. (In reality, it was overcast and wavy, and an overall dull grey.)
Recently we visited Pictured Rocks again, this time on a boat tour, and they are just as spectacular as I remember. In the coming weeks, I’ll be posting more pictures from our visit to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan!
I loved it

Yes Katie, I have missed many opportunities for a great picture. The most memorable for me is the day a friend and I were on the way to Bodie State Park to explore and take pictures. Traveling south on US 395, we came on a cattle drive going south in the northbound lanes. As we approached, we saw a group of 30 or so bikers stopping to let the cattle go by. The dichotomy between cattle and bikers would have told a great story. Unfortunately, our cameras were in the trunk and traffic wouldn’t allow us to stop and get them out. Oh well! Thanks for sharing!
