I’ve traveled with a full itinerary and I’ve traveled with no idea where the next day will take me, and I love both. But going anywhere on a popular holiday weekend requires a bit of advance planning. Thankfully, Matt is a planner, and he’s damn good at it. It made our long weekend to the coast nothing short of perfect (seriously).
Some may say that there is no room for spontaneity in a heavily scheduled vacation, but the benefit is time. You get to do everything you want. (Yes, I realize that things can go wrong despite the careful planning, like the time the power went out while we were next in line for the tour at the Jameson distillery in Dublin. Grrrr.)
Anyway, we were really lucky with the weather, the house we rented, and pretty much just being at the right place at the right time. It was a perfect balance of exploration and relaxation (and breweries and wineries).
